My Favorite Names & Why.

This is my very first baby name post on this blog. Are you excited? I hope so!! (: This post will be all about my favorite names (top names) and why I chose them, how they got to be my top names and what I picture my son/daughter with this name will look like, as well. Let's start off with boys.

I have curly dirty blonde hair and blue eyes with lots of freckles. But when I was little I had bleach blonde hair. My boyfriend has straight light brown hair and blue eyes with a big nose. My parents both have blue eyes and have wavy brown hair. His mom has brown eyes and straight brown hair. His dad has blue eyes and straight blonde hair. So there is a background, per se, of how my kids will look.

...Boys...

David Walter: This name has been my top boy name since I've been dating my boyfriend for a year and a half. He firmly stated that his first son would be named David Walter after his father and grandfather. Before I started to date him, I didn't like this name, at all. I thought David was an ugly old mans name because I only know old men with the name David. The more we talked and the more I found out about the history of this name, the more I grew to love it. I can now picture me having a little boy named David. And as for nicknames, I would really like to call him DJ or DW. I hate the nicknames Dave and Davey. Nope, not going to be calling my son that. I picture David, to have curly bleach blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.

Warren Keith: I was asking my dad about some of his names on his side of the family and Warren Keith came up. I wrote it down, not expecting to love it, but a few hours later, of saying it and thinking about having my son named Warren, I started loving it. Warren just sounds really cool and rugged. "A little boy in the sand pit playing with trucks and throwing sand at his sisters" type name. I picture my little Warren having dark wavy brown hair (like my boyfriends mother) down to his shoulders and blue eyes with lots of freckles.

Aubrey Mark: Before you flip on me, yes, Aubrey is a boys name. It was actually a boys name WAY before the girls took it over. According to the SSA charts, Aubrey was in the top 1000 from 1880 to 2002. That is 122 years. While Aubrey for a girl started getting popular in 1973 and only has been in the top 1000 for 41 years. Anyways, Aubrey just sounds extremely masculine to me. I can actually picture me having a son named Aubrey, despite it being hugely popular for girls (#18),  I would use this name for a boy. Although, my boyfriend hates it, so unless by some miracle, he realizes that I went though A LOT of pain to bear him HIS child, and gives me the name choice, we probably wont use Aubrey. So it will most likely be a GP name. :/ I can picture my son Aubrey Mark, to have straight as an arrow blonde hair and brown eyes.

...Girls...
Lorraine Alice: Lorraine was my great grandmothers name, also my middle name. I would classify this name as timeless. I can picture my Lorraine as a newborn, a toddler, a young child, a preteen, a teenager, a mom, and a grandmother. I would most likely call her Lori to honor my mother, as well. I knew from when I started loving names, that Lorraine would be my daughters name - It was going to be Alice Lorraine, but I love Lorraine so much, I wanted to make it the first name. I can picture Lorraine to have my curly bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. And as she grows older, the bleach blonde fades to dirty blonde hair.

Phoebe Naomi: This recently became a name I started to like. I like the sound of Phoebe and Naomi together, although a lot of nameberry users don't like the ending "ee" sound at the end of both names. And my boyfriend doesn't like this name very much. So probably won't use it. Anyways, I can picture my Phoebe having light brown hair down to her waist and brown eyes.

** Girl names are really hard for me. I like so many, but love very few. But boys names on the other hand, are way easier for me. So Phoebe probably won't stay up there for much longer. **

  1. You have a great list! David Walter is such a distinctive choice, David is very handsome. I love Warren, though I prefer it in the middle spot. Keith is nms. I love Aubrey on boys! It is my boyfriend's name, so that may have something to do with it...I just love "softer" names on boys to begin with. Lorraine Alice is a very classy combo, I love Lorraine. Not a fan of Lori, though. Phoebe is just one of those names I don't see the attraction of, but wouldn't bat an eye if someone else used it. Naomi is on of my favorite girls names at the moment!
